When Ashley contacted us I was so excited because she was planing a Boulevard Brewery wedding and because I would get to shoot my first military couple! I’m not big on beer but brew houses are always cool to shoot in. I am big on the military and I was so happy to be able to serve these two and to add this FIRST to my list. Ashley and Casey moved to Japan last summer and have been traveling around to some amazing places since, and I’m just enjoying living though Ashley’s Facebook or Instagram posts.
The couple came back to KC for the big day and stayed in a cute Airbnb for the few days leading up to the wedding. When I arrived to the house, Ashley was just so cheerful and her bridesmaids were all happy and full of smiles. One of the great parts about these ladies is they all knew each other with from high school or college and spent most of the morning reminiscing about their “good old days”. It was the cutest.
When it was almost time for the first look I got a chance to finally see Casey in his Mess uniform, which I had never seen Air Force Mess before. John and I have Army Mess uniforms but I assumed they would be very different. Surprisingly there wasn’t much difference and if you are dying to see it, I added a few photographs of him alone. Can anyone guess what kind of awards he’s wearing?
The first look was one of my favorites to photograph during this wedding and my second favorite was photographing Ashley and her Bridesmaids. They are so much fun and kept me laughing the entire time. I was pretty stunned at how amazing the film images were when I received them. Ashley and Casey look amazing on film! I’m pretty proud of myself too because almost all of the images on this blog post are from my Pentax 645n.
Ashley and Casey, we wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness and if you ever need a photographer in Japan I’m always here for you guys…hint hint! Check back for more blogs HERE.
